Guillermo Carranza, owner of Punta Leona, is one of Costa Rica's most famous and influential sons. The impact of his life on modern day Costa Rica cannot be overstated as he has personally contributed to the life of each citizen. Guillermo has built some of the greatest and most important bridges, marinas and ports in the country, as well as Costa Rica's National Library, the city of San Jose's Judicial Building, and the Cultural Plaza. He masterminded the Villa Real community development, which today is known as the "Beverly Hills" of San Jose. His 1962 accomplishment of building Costa Rica's first National Bank is noted on the back of Costa Rican currency —the 1,000 colones note.

He is the founder and former president of the Costa Rica Contractor's Association and in 2004 was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Guillermo, whose son Andres is the architect for Tranquilo, is passionate about preserving the natural beauty of Punta Leona, has given his full and enthusiastic support to this project, and has contributed his vision and experience to its success.
